WORSHIP THIS WEEK: This Sunday: May 28, we celebrate Pentecost, the day on which the Holy Spirit turned a bunch of tentative, scared disciples into powerful preachers and teachers. How might the Holy Spirit be transforming us today? Wear some red, and join us for worship at 10:00 on Sunday, either at 300 Shunpike Road or in our digital sanctuary here: https://www.youtube.com/live/MCArzukvPgI?feature=share
“I have held many things in my hands, and I have lost them all; but whatever I have placed in God’s hands, that I still possess.”
– Martin Luther
As we walk in faith, the people of Gloria Dei consider how God is calling us to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in this congregation and in the broader community. We know that God’s love does not depend on what we believe or how we behave, but we soon discover that a life of discipleship leads us to worship, pray, read the Bible, serve others, and share our resources, not because we have to do these things, but because we want to do them. We can’t help ourselves.
- We share our time, talent, and treasure to bear witness to the love of Christ in our lives.
- We share our financial gifts to support diverse mission efforts at the state, national and global levels.
- We support the ministries of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, including Lutheran Disaster Response and Lutheran World Hunger.
- We are grateful for the work of our local fire and emergency response personnel, which we support along with other local organizations: Chatham Senior Center, Chatham Senior Bus Service, Morris County Interfaith Food Pantry, Literacy Volunteers of Morris County, and others.
We pray that God will help us
always to use our gifts wisely
and share our resources generously.
